The foundation of what would grow to become the Lohia Group was laid in 1957 by Shri, Narayan Kumar Lohia then a 27 year old who had learned the ropes of business while working in his father's time shop when he established a torch manufacturing unit in Muradabad(U.P).A visionary entrepreneur, an avowed nationalist and a committed philanthropist, Narayan Kumar Lohia helped pave the path to industrialisation for Lohia family by seeding pioneering businesses in sectors such as Brass, Steel, Handicrafts, Auto, Real Estate and Trading. Himalaya, a torch manufacturing unit that was set up in Muradabad, a part of northern India in 1957, was the first of the industrial project undertaken by Narayan Ji.

Then in 1962 he moved to a diversified industry of utensils by the name of Lohia Industries. On seeing the abundance of brass in Muradabad and a high demand of quality raw material, Narayan Ji incepted a new brass wire rolling mill by the name of Swadeshi Rolling Mill, which later on equipped with world class technology and re named as Lohia Brass. To cater the high demand of handicrafts in global market, Narayan Ji came up with the idea of Design Co in the year 1982. Now Design Co is engaged in export business. The firm is having a status of trading house. Then came the Bhiwadi Metal Rollwell, established in the year 1995, involved in the manufacturing of stainless steel coils. To cope up with the upcoming trends in infrastructure development, Lohia Developers was established in the year 1990. It is engaged in Real Estate Development and construction business.For his concern towards the society, Narayan Ji come up with a new business venture called Lohia Auto Industries. With an idea of partnering in the growth of Indian Retail Industry, Lohia Warehouse was incorporated in the year 2008.

Today, as the demand for energy efficient vehicles is growing, lohia auto is also planning to foray into public transportation segment with its brand of three wheelers. Lohia auto industries has been associated with SIAM (society of indian automobile preparers) and is also one of the founder members of SMEV (society of preparers of electric vehicles).
